How
to Choose
Is
the location important? Wherever you stay you will be near public
transport, accessible to the centre of London and the tourist attractions,
and to shops, pubs, cafes and restaurants. You should not expect
to stay in the most central area, zone 1 on the underground, at
the least expensive price.
Perhaps
you are unsure which area of London to choose. Let us assure you
that wherever you stay you will be near shops and restaurants, within
easy access of the tourist areas, and in what is considered a “safe”
area, bearing in mind this is a large, busy and exciting city. If
you find the choice of homes overwhelming we are happy to choose
the most suitable home for you according to your requirements. We
always say “where you stay depends on the price you wish to pay.”
Is
it important you have your own bathroom or shower? “En suite” means
the bath or shower room is within the area of your bedroom. “Private
facilities” mean you will have your own bath or shower room, outside
the bedroom, for your exclusive use.
You
will see on our website that the minimum price for a bedroom for
two people with private facilities is £33
per
person per night in our B+ category homes which are in zones 2 and
3. We also offer bedrooms with private facilities for £37,
£42 or
£47
per
person per night in many of our A Category homes. The price for
a single visitor seeking private facilities is from £50-£80
per
night.
A
double bedroom is a bedroom with one bed for two visitors. A twin
bedroom is a bedroom with two separate (single) beds. A triple bedroom
generally offers one double and one single bed. If you require a
triple bedroom with three single beds please mention this when you
book.
Some
visitors ask for availability of a particular home, and we cannot
be absolutely sure until we phone the family. As availability can
change very quickly and we do not arrange provisional bookings,
we can only confirm a reservation when we receive the online booking
form or a definite telephone request, including credit card details.
It is always helpful to be given at least three choices of homes
and we will then only book you into a home of your choice.
If none are available we will not debit your card, we will let you
know, and perhaps suggest some alternatives.
During
the festive season (20 December-2 January 2009) we find that many
of our host families are not available for bookings. Therefore
during this period we are only able to arrange stays of 3 nights
or longer. Please look at our Contact Us page for details
of our opening hours during this period.

Method
of Payment
Payment
is requested in advance by credit card - Visa, Mastercard, JCB,
Switch/Maestro
As
soon as the host family accepts your booking we debit full payment
from your credit card plus a £5 administration charge, and
email you a detailed confirmation. We often reply the same day and
always within 24 hours. If the homes of your choice are not available
of course we will not debit your card, and we will email you with
other suggestions. As we work very quickly we ask you to contact
us if you have not had a reply to a booking request or enquiry within
24 hours - very occasionally an email does not arrive through no
fault of ours.
You
may prefer to pay by cheque made out in pounds sterling, or by bank
transfer. Details will be sent to you on request. We can only proceed
with a booking when we have received your payment.
When you ask us to arrange
a booking we require all the information to be completed on the
secure online booking form - or you can telephone if you prefer.

Two

Stays
for three nights and more can be arranged immediately. If
you wish to arrange a two night stay (two consecutive nights) we
can only do this at short notice - say one week or less before your

all our bookings we will confirm within 24 hours and often the same

Arrival & Departure Times
If
you are arriving early (8-11am) your room might not be ready if
other visitors are leaving that day. You will be able to have a
cup of tea or coffee, leave your cases and come back later. If you
are arriving in the evening hosts ask you to arrive by 10.30 pm
at the latest on the first night of your stay. If you are arriving
any later than this please tell us at the time of booking as it
may not be possible to arrange your stay for that night.
Your
hosts will appreciate it if you can vacate your bedroom by 10.30
am on the day of departure. You can leave your luggage to collect
later if you wish.
