How to Choose

Is the location important? Wherever you stay you will be near public transport, accessible to the centre of London and the tourist attractions, and to shops, pubs, cafes and restaurants. You should not expect to stay in the most central area, zone 1 on the underground, at the least expensive price.

Perhaps you are unsure which area of London to choose. Let us assure you that wherever you stay you will be near shops and restaurants, within easy access of the tourist areas, and in what is considered a “safe” area, bearing in mind this is a large, busy and exciting city. If you find the choice of homes overwhelming we are happy to choose the most suitable home for you according to your requirements. We always say “where you stay depends on the price you wish to pay.”

Is it important you have your own bathroom or shower? “En suite” means the bath or shower room is within the area of your bedroom. “Private facilities” mean you will have your own bath or shower room, outside the bedroom, for your exclusive use.

You will see on our website that the minimum price for a bedroom for two people with private facilities is £33 per person per night in our B+ category homes which are in zones 2 and 3. We also offer bedrooms with private facilities for £37, £42 or £47 per person per night in many of our A Category homes. The price for a single visitor seeking private facilities is from £50-£80 per night.

A double bedroom is a bedroom with one bed for two visitors. A twin bedroom is a bedroom with two separate (single) beds. A triple bedroom generally offers one double and one single bed. If you require a triple bedroom with three single beds please mention this when you book.

Some visitors ask for availability of a particular home, and we cannot be absolutely sure until we phone the family. As availability can change very quickly and we do not arrange provisional bookings, we can only confirm a reservation when we receive the online booking form or a definite telephone request, including credit card details.  It is always helpful to be given at least three choices of homes and we will then only book you into a home of your choice.  If none are available we will not debit your card, we will let you know, and perhaps suggest some alternatives.

During the festive season (20 December-2 January 2009) we find that many of our host families are not available for bookings.  Therefore during this period we are only able to arrange stays of 3 nights or longer.  Please look at our Contact Us page for details of our opening hours during this period.

Method of Payment

Payment is requested in advance by credit card - Visa, Mastercard, JCB, Switch/Maestro

As soon as the host family accepts your booking we debit full payment from your credit card plus a £5 administration charge, and email you a detailed confirmation. We often reply the same day and always within 24 hours. If the homes of your choice are not available of course we will not debit your card, and we will email you with other suggestions. As we work very quickly we ask you to contact us if you have not had a reply to a booking request or enquiry within 24 hours - very occasionally an email does not arrive through no fault of ours.

You may prefer to pay by cheque made out in pounds sterling, or by bank transfer. Details will be sent to you on request. We can only proceed with a booking when we have received your payment.

When you ask us to arrange a booking we require all the information to be completed on the secure online booking form - or you can telephone if you prefer.

One Night Stays

We are unable to arrange any one night stays in our private homes.  We are pleased to offer the possibility of accommodation for one night in a small, newly refurbished hotel in Baker Street.  You will have a twin or double bedroom, plain yet functional, with en suite shower, WiFi, TV, and a generous and varied continental breakfast.  Tea and coffee available free of charge.  The price is £110 per night for 2 visitors and £105 for the single visitor.  Like all our homes, this accommodation is offered subject to availability at the time of booking.  We are unable to cancel once the booking is confirmed.

Two Night Stays

Stays for three nights and more can be arranged immediately.  If you wish to arrange a two night stay (two consecutive nights) we can only do this at short notice - say one week or less before your arrival date.  You can even contact us the day before your arrival when we will always do our best to help you.  As with all our bookings we will confirm within 24 hours and often the same day.

Last Minute Bookings

Whenever possible we can arrange your booking on the day of arrival, generally if a request is received by 3pm at the latest. We are always pleased to help and would ask you to be flexible about price and location.

Arrival & Departure Times

If you are arriving early (8-11am) your room might not be ready if other visitors are leaving that day. You will be able to have a cup of tea or coffee, leave your cases and come back later. If you are arriving in the evening hosts ask you to arrive by 10.30 pm at the latest on the first night of your stay. If you are arriving any later than this please tell us at the time of booking as it may not be possible to arrange your stay for that night.

Your hosts will appreciate it if you can vacate your bedroom by 10.30 am on the day of departure. You can leave your luggage to collect later if you wish.
